Defining a Process > Defining Connection Properties > Routing Dialog > Attach

Attach

Under the General tab there are three basic selections.

Quantity   This allows you to type the number of entities to be attached to the entity waiting at the connecting activity.

Attach To — Clicking the drop down box will show the following options:

You may choose to attach the entity to any available entity (with the Any Entity option), the entity that created them (with the Creator option), or a selection of entities (with the Selected Entities Only option). You may also choose to permanently attach the entities (with the Permanently check box), which means that there is no intention of detaching the entities later in the process. By doing this, all cost statistics of the attaching entities are rolled up and reported with the base entity. If Creator is selected, the entities to be attached must come from a Create routing.

When — Allows you to specify whether the attach occurs before or after the base entity executes its activity logic.

Under the Additional tab, the Attach box allows you to select the behavior by which to attach.

When Entire Quantity is selected, the base entity will attach the total number of entities defined in the Quantity field and will wait until all entities are available to be attached.  When Immediately is selected, the base entity will attach whatever quantity is available at the activity and immediately route out.

When With Time Limit is selected, the base entity will attach the total number of entities defined in the Quantity field, or it will wait until the specified time limit has elapsed and attach as much of the quantity it can. With the Condition box, you can optionally choose to attach based on an attribute value.
